Quick definition · 2 min Coding term

Vibe coding

Vibe coding is building software mostly by describing what you want in plain English and letting an AI write the actual code.

Think of it like

Directing a contractor instead of laying the bricks yourself. You say what you want; the AI builds it.

Example

Typing “make a website where people book my dog-walking service” into an AI tool, then refining from there, is vibe coding.

Why it matters

It is the activity that opened coding to people who never wrote code. This whole dictionary exists to make it less intimidating.
