Quick definition · 2 min Builder & startup term

Churn

Churn is the rate at which customers cancel and leave. High churn quietly drains a business.

Think of it like

A leaky bucket. You keep pouring in new customers, but if the holes are big, the level never rises.

Example

If 100 subscribers start the month and 5 cancel, that is 5 percent monthly churn.

Why it matters

You can grow and still fail if churn is high. One of the most important health metrics for any subscription.
